Abstract:
The Planet formation involves complicated MHD processes. Planets are believed to be formed within the proto-planetary disks. The speaker will talk about some of the processes related to the proto-planetary disk angular momentum transport, the planet-disk interaction, the gas accretion of the rocky core. After the dispersal of the proto-planetary disk, the star-planet interactions dictates the subsequent evolution of the planet. At this stage, the wave dynamics within the planet interior plays an essential role in determining the planet's physical properties, such as spin and orbital parameters. The effects of magnetic fields on hot Jupiters circulation will also be briefly discussed.
CV:
Prof. Cong Yu got his PhD from Yun nan Observatories, CAS in 2005. He used to be assistant researcher, associate researcher and researcher at Yunnan Observatories, CAS during 2005-2017. He worked as postdoc at Los Alamos National Lab from 2007 to 2010, as a visiting scholar at Cornell University from 2011 to 2012. He is now a professor in School of Physics and Astronomy, Sun Yat-Sen University since 2017.
Prof. Cong Yu’s research interests are exoplanets formation and evolution, accretion disks (protoplanetary accretion disks, black hole accretion disks), dynamical tides and gravitational waves of binary white dwarfs, magnetospheric radiation and dynamics of pulsars and magnetars. He became member of “Youth Innovation Promotion Association” (中国科学院青年创新促进会会员) in 2013, selected as “ talents of academic and technological leaders in Yunnan Province” (云南省中青年学术技术带头人后备人才).
