CFTHLenS: Observing the Dark Universe

Title: CFTHLenS: Observing the Dark Universe
Speaker: Liping Fu, Shanghai Normal University
Time & Place: Thursday, 3:00pm, November 27th, Lecture Hall, 3rd floor

AbstractI will give a general introduction of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Lensing (CFHTLenS) survey optimised for weak lensing analyses, observed as part of the CFHT Legacy Survey (CFHTLS). The analysis of these data presents the current state-of-the-art in weak lensing data processing, including data reduction, shear measurement and photometric redshift measurement. The most recent cosmological results from CFHTLenS will be presented as the 2nd part of my talk.

Biog: Dr. Liping Fu is an Associate Professor of Astronomy in Shanghai Key Lab for Astrophysics, Shanghai Normal University. She obtained her PhD (Marie Curie fellow) degree in the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (IAP) and Université Pierre & Marie Curie, Paris, in 2008. She was offered a postdoctoral fellowship of the European Community Research Training Network (DUEL, Marie Curie fellow) at INAF Osservatorio Astronomico di Capodimonte in Napoli, Italy from 2008 to 2010. She is a member of the European CFHTLenS Project. Her current research interests are in the field of gravitational lensing, especially cosmic shear and its cosmological applications. She explored the cosmic shear signal to the linear regime based on CFHTLS wide survey. She also measures two-point and three-point correlations of cosmic shear in CFHTLenS data.
