Second Announcement
PURPOSE and SCOPE
The international workshop, "Solar System exploration-from Lijiang to the Oort cloud ", will be held in Lijiang, China from June 25 to 27, 2017. Knowledge of small bodies (e. g. asteroids, TNOs and comets), the relic of planet building blocks, directly sheds light on the formation of planets. The physical characteristics of these primitive bodies hold keys to understanding the formation and evolution of our solar system, which is the closest and the only planetary system that can be studied in details. This three-day workshop aims at promoting the solar system small body studies in Asia and enhancing international collaborations and building observational
networks. In addition, we would like to discuss current and future projects with the state-of-the-art facilities such as FAST, GAIA, ALMA and JWST.
MAIN TOPICS
1) Review the highlights of the solar system studies in the past 10 years
2) Current and prospective multi-wavelength observing techniques
3) Laboratory studies of solar system analogue materials
4) Worldwide observational networks and their roles in studying small bodies
5) Mining of space- and ground-based archival data 6) Next generation ground- and
space-based facilities 7) Future prospects of small system science
